Osteosarcoma---My story

Hey guys, I thought i would just get straight into blogging about this topic because i think people need to be aware of the different types of cancer, The reasons I'm saying this is because 1. I wasn't aware of alot of cancers even common ones and the truth of the matter is anyone can be diagnosed and it SUCKS !!! I'm only saying all this because I was diagnosed with Osteosarcoma on August the 15th 2012 and started my treatment in September, The first thought that went through my head was that this consultant is lying to me and that this CAN'T be happening not to me ! I thought this because I've never had any serious illness of problems where i would have to be in hospital ,No broken bones or bad colds or anything I've been very very lucky up till august, First thing you're probably thinking is ,What is Osteosarcoma... Well Osteosarcoma is a form of bone cancer it most commonly occurs with a sudden growth spurt and is mostly found in teenagers , My Osteosarcoma was found inside my knee ,I was very lucky because the tumour was very small 3cm it did grow to 5cm within a few weeks though, My leg didn't swell up like most cases i had no idea something was wrong with me, I did notice a piercing sharp pain in the back of my right leg , It was so bad i had a limp i had to give up my favourite sport, I couldn't even run to catch up with people if i ran i had this limp. I had to get xrays , cat scans, blood tests, MRI, and the worst i had to have a biopsy (while i was awake D:) A biopsy i when the put this numbing stuff where the tumour is and then get this big needle (you're in a MRI machine i think for all of this) and they take a small part of the tumour out (just to be 100% sure it's a tumour and not a cyst).
The most scary thing for me wasn't the chemo, or it wasn't getting the Hickman line ( a Hickman line is also called a Freddy line they put the chemo in this so you don't have to keep getting needles) ( I couldn't find a picture of the Hickman ...Sorry) The scariest part for me was my operation every chemo i got was to fight my chemo cells and reduce the size of my tumour all for this Operation, I knew since probably October what my Operation was i probably even knew it before then, The Operation i was getting would save my leg:) but its a very slow process, i was supposed to get a metal knee but the doctors realised I'll probably have gotten way taller in a year which means i would have to get another operation when I'm 15 , I'm 14 now, and i got cancer when I was 13, which is a common age to get it.  Anyway the Operation was quite complex I'll try to explain it but in short words i would have to have a massive frame on my right leg (like forest gump) for a year, it's coming off this June which is good news :D and my chemo is done in may:) I can't really think of anything else to say in this blog , I don't really want to overload you with information.

But i will be uploading pictures and stuff and I will be posting more on this topic and just about my day :) There will defo be a video coming up when i go crumlin and I'm going to show off st.johns ward and the new rooms excitement :D If you have any questions or anything email me at Clogzypop@gmail.com or ask in the comments :) I hope this helped a bit , I know it's all over the place :L byex
